Be A Guardian: Truong Thi Hong Thu

Thu lives with her mother, brother and sister-in-law in a small house in an alley near Son Tra coast, Đà Nẵng. Without her father, her mother becomes the bread-winner for the whole family by fishing or sometimes doing small business, however, this business doesn’t last for long because of running out of money. In addition to unstable business and income (around 600 000 to 800 000VND per month), her mother’s health is not in a good condition (chronic headache) that makes life even more difficult.

Her brother works as a coolie in harbor and earns about 400,000 to 500,000 VND per month (equal S$40-50/per month). This amount is enough to cover her brother and sister-in law who is pregnant life. Therefore, her school fee is afforded all by her mother.

Thu is friendly, smart and hard working. Even with difficulties, Thu tries her best to study and has achieved good merit from 1st form to 6th form. Thu wishes that she could come to the university and later become university lecturer.
