Little Minh was introduced to GFO in March 2008.
Treatment Information:
10/2007 - 3/2008 - Patient was constantly suffered from fever, jaundice, losing appetite, fatigue
- Patient had regular check-up and full blood count tests in Vietnam. Doctor concluded that he was suffering from low level of hemoglobin with unknown causes
- After the bone marrow test, the patient was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The family decided to bring the child to have treatment in National University Hospital in Singapore (NUH)
4/2008 - Various tests were done and the result agreed with the diagnosis of doctor in Vietnam.
- Treatment protocol is: starting with high dose chemotherapy, the patient will look for bone marrow donor to carry out bone marrow transplant (BMT). The cost may be up to SGD400,000.
- When patient first arrived in Singapore, he was in danger because of a very high level of white blood cells. After receiving treatment to stabilize the white blood cells, he was discharged. The family was looking for a suitable bone marrow donor from bone marrow bank.
- When a donor has bone marrow match with the patient's, he/she is invited to take confirmatory test (to test the blood), then subsequent HIV test, hepatitis test...
