Mrs Thuy was introduced to GFO in March 2008.
Treatment Information:
3/2005 - Patient was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Vietnam
- She underwent through 3 cycles of chemotherapy, then operation to remove the tumor, following by 6 more cycles of chemotherapy. All procedures were done in Vietnam
- Patient's condition was greatly improved
3/2008 - Patient was weaken. The ultrasound in Vietnam shown many small tumors in the lung. The family decided to bring patient over Singapore to have treatment in Mount Elizabeth Hospital
3/2008 - Doctor in Singapore ordered biopsy of lymph nodes, cancer test and x-ray
- Test results shown that the patient was suffered from metastasis, the tumor has spread to abdominal area and along the spine. Liver, kidney and heart were in good function. There was a small tumor in her left breast but it was not from ovarian tumor
- A treatment protocol was given: patient will be going through few cycles of chemotherapy, each cycle lasts for 3 weeks
- Patient underwent the first chemotherapy cycle, then went back to Vietnam. She was expected to come back to Singapore on 8/4 for the second chemotherapy
4/2008 - Patient went back to Singapore for the second cycle of chemotherapy. Test results shown that the patient has responded well with chemo-drugs. X-ray of lungs shown that the lymph nodes was still there but significantly reduced in quantity compared to before the treatment.
- After the chemotherapy, the patient felt good, no nausea, no dumbness in fingers or toes. Doctor also ordered oral medicine and injections for few days after the chemotherapy.
- Doctor scheduled next appointment in May for check-up of lungs and the third cycle of chemotherapy.
5/2008 - Patient went back to Singapore for the third cycle of chemotherapy. Results of blood test and CT scan were good. Cancerous indicator dropped significantly compared to the last time. Tumors inside the body has also reduced in quantity.
- Patient was given chemotherapy as planned.
- Patient still suffered from heavy cough. Lung doctor gave her tablets.
- Doctor scheduled next appointment in early June for X-ray, seeing lung doctor, then receiving the forth cycle of chemotherapy.
