Patient Intro:

It is so true to say that “innocence covers everything on one’s surface” when it comes to little Lam Yen Hue. Playing with a toy phone, talking and giggling at it, the little kid seems so happily lost in her own world. No one but her parents would be able to notice that in that little body, it bears a most dangerous disease of all- cancer.

Just a seven years old girl, little Lam Yen Hue had already carried a malignant tumor in her lower abdomen. She was hospitalized in a joint hospital of Vietnam and France back in Vietnam. After the doctors conducted a few blood tests and checks up, the result was not clear enough to take any further actions. Therefore, her father- Mr Minh Hai had decided to seek treatment somewhere else. Having grandmother taking care of their 5-year-old son, the couple packed for the trip to find their hope on this tiny island - Singapore.

Through the introduction of little Ngoc’s father- another case that GFO is also helping, Mr Hai and family had arranged to meet with our organization right on the day of their arrival - 25th of October. Doing what we do best, GFO had effortlessly helped the family on the communication matter with the doctors of National University Hospital (NUH). Soon enough, a schedule of treatments had been implemented for little Hue.

To avoid the possibility of the cancer cells spreading to other organs, the doctors had decided on their first priority: operation to cut off the tumor as soon as possible. On the very first day of November, every single second that passed by was the long stretch of hours for those who waiting impatiently for the news of the operation. Laughter bursts into tears when good news comes from the operation room: an approximately 1 kg malignant tumor had been taken out completely.

Since that holy day, little Hue’s recovery rate had picked up really fast. Just two days later, she had already been transformed back to her usual self - a non-stop giggling singer. But the worries are still hovering there. Would those cancer cells come back by any chances? GFO is still there, with some nurses and doctors; we are all waiting for the final result. “Let’s hope that we can achieve a lighting speed victory, not a long winded battle” said Mr Hai. Let us all pray for a fairy tale with a bright ending for the little one. Let us also pray for her a normal life, just like any other kids.

During the next period of time, GFO would still be around. It has always been our duty to help them whenever they need us.
